GAMYAM- THE DESTNATION

                                                        ########################

This song is from a Telugu Cinema "Gamyam" . Gamyam means DESTINATION in English. This song was penned by one of the best lyricists Telugu Cinema ever had, Sri Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry. Riddled with so much of inner meaning this song conveys a very deep message to every day travels and travails of man in reaching his destination. IT tells us how one should understand who he is and his purpose in life and what his image is in the eyes of the people that come and go into and from his life.

This particular lyric carries such deep meaning I heard the song again and again to get into  mind of the poet and get the meaning.

The literal translation reads
"Will you not be able to know that the whole world is residing in yourself?"

"And once you know the abject truth, will you not meet with yourself and converse with yourself at every junction of your life's travels.

Simple! Is it not? Very complicated too, is it not? Yes, very simple to read but very deep and complicated to get an insight into a very meaningful message it conveys.

In your journey of life to reach a destination you think you meet a horde of people and you think each individual is a different self with a different route to reach his destination. The poet differs. He says the whole world resides within yourself and every individual who you think is different soul. But you are oblivious of the fact that the world is made of you. And once you know this at every stage of your journey you meet with yourself and talk and take advice from yourself.

What a vision of the poet that everyone one that meets during his journey and advises you is nothing but one's own mirror image?  How beautifully he presented the concept of "Vasudhaika Kutumbam"

But this is not the crux of the song that the poet so painstakingly penned to convey few messages.

Never ever question yourself "whither you are running and why are you running?"

If running (journeying) is your only destination, then you will find your life (an answer to your questions) on the route  to your destination.

When the answer to your questions is in front of you, whither are you  running and for achieving what? Search within your soul you will find answers.

Ask your heart that knows the answer that is hidden in the question instead of running in search of an unknown destination.

What is an "ocean"? Is it not a cluster of umpteen, unseen waves? Does anyone ask the name of each wave and define the Ocean? We only say it is an ocean and waves are part of it. An individual is not a "name or his fame" but he is the unseen molecule in the great ocean of universe. Another beautiful example of "Vasudhiaka Kutumbam'

Everyone that meets us in the journey is a wave in the ocean called "man" . Does anyone answer if you call him, "Man' ?

Reason is your mind is not able to perceive the truth. Did you realize that it is "you' who is in the room? But the mirrors around you are showing varied images of you and are singing "it is not you" or "it is a different you"

Is it not air that you breathe and sustains you, is it not light that is in your eyes?

Earth, Sky and water, when mixed, turns into "you" . Is it not true?

The thoughts that are yours in your own mind are the visions you see outside. Your shadows  are the witness for truth.

Fault lines in your character are your enemies, your likes are your friends.

Seasons are images of your thoughts.

The smile that comes searching you is for your friendship.

Deceit, anger and hatred are a commentary of you muddied mind.

Birth and death are only two numbers and you don't own them.

Oh! Dear friend! This canvas of life is yours. It is left to you how you color it.

You apply this song to the greatest statesman of the day, the crooked opposition, apply it to me and apply it to you. You will find a different meaning. Please understand the color of the canvas.
